Design and Art Technician

Term Time, 39 Weeks

Enthusiastic technician with excellent communication skills required to join our team.

These are exciting times for Matravers with a combination of rapidly improving results, growing student applications and significant investment being made into the school. We are looking for a colleague to contribute to this through delivering exceptional customer service and support to our teachers and students.

“The Art and Design departments utilise a wide range of processes within their GCSE and A-level courses. The successful applicant would have the opportunity to facilitate various activities within these departments including;

  • Printing techniques such as etching and silkscreen.
  • Photography processes including wet black and white dark room photography, Cyanotypes and digital photography
  • Processing and firing clay in the kilns and working with glazes.
  • As well as 3D printing, woodwork and metal casting and forging for the 3D design course.”

In addition the successful candidate would be required to demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety risks in the Art and Design area.
  • Willingness to acquire appropriate certification if not already held.
  • Experience of working with machinery and equipment in a school environment.
  • Good inter-personal and communication skills.
  • High standards and expectations. Initiative and innovation.
  • They are trained to a Basic level of First Aid or that they would be willing to undertake appropriate training.

Cover Supervisor

     Term Time & Fixed Term 1 Year

The successful candidate will supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of staff. You will be required to deliver set work, supervise and manage the behaviour of classes in line with the school policy.

This is an exciting role with plenty of development opportunities. The position would suit a candidate with relevant experience or a graduate considering a career in teaching. There may be the opportunity for work-based training leading to a recognised teaching qualification for the right candidate.

The role will be worked over 30 hours per week 39 weeks a year This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  Examination Invigilator/ Reader/Scribe

£7.83 per hour

Grade B

Has recent and relevant experience of working in a School environment with students in a professional capacity

  • Has levels of integrity and professionalism
