What is Ten Tors?
Ten Tors is a challenge organised by the armed forces in which teams of six young people are required to walk either 35, 45 or 55 miles across Dartmoor, visiting ten of the famous Dartmoor tors. Teams must complete this challenge between 7.00am on the Saturday and 5.00pm on the Sunday. They must also carry all the equipment, food and tents they will need to survive the two days.
We run training sessions on The Mendips, The Quantocks, The Black Mountains and three weekends on Dartmoor to prepare the students. Ten Tors has been taking place on Dartmoor every year since 1960. It is a test of teamwork and endurance, it is not a race, time is not important, the finishing as a complete team of six is.
Matravers has entered teams every year since 2002. See all our entrants in the Hall of Fame.
