Safe Learning Environment

RSHE is delivered in a safe and respectful learning environment where pupils are encouraged to explore ideas, ask questions and consider different viewpoints appropriately.

Classroom discussions are supported through agreed ground rules that promote:

  • Respect
  • Tolerance
  • Individual liberty
  • Responsibility
  • Safeguarding

Lessons are delivered by trained staff who are supported to manage sensitive topics appropriately.

Working with Parents and Carers

We recognise that parents and carers are the primary educators of their children and value their role in supporting relationships, sex and health education.

We are committed to transparency and will:

  • publish our RSHE policy
  • publish curriculum overviews
  • provide information about what pupils will learn
  • make teaching materials available for review upon request
  • consult with parents on our policy and provision

Parents are entitled to request that their child be withdrawn from those elements of sex education that are not part of the statutory science curriculum.
