Years 10 - 11

The Key Stage 4 Curriculum at Matravers has been designed to be as adaptable as possible to ensure that all pupils have the opportunity to fulfil their potential as well as meeting their needs.  The curriculum model offers pupils approximately 18 level 2 subjects to choose from, 9 of which are vocational qualifications. In addition pupils will study a range of core subjects including English Language, English Literature, Maths, Science, Religious Education, Personal Development and PE.  To help students make the most of these opportunities we have identified four career pathways which offer guidance on the most suitable subjects for different types of learners.  The subjects on offer vary from each pathway but flexibility between pathways is possible if it is considered to be in the pupils’ best interest.

The Curriculum

The majority of students follow a compulsory Core Curriculum that consists of:

• English Language GCSE – 4 hours
• English Literature GCSE – 4 hours
• Maths GCSE – 8 hours
• Science (2 GCSEs) – 10 hours
• Core PE – 3 hours
• 4 option subjects – 5 hours each
• Religious Studies – 1 hour
